So What IS the SHMILY Thing?

Picture
Throughout their married life, Diane's dad/Cheryl's grandfather wrote
SHMILY - see how much I love you -  on everything imaginable (coffee cups, mirrors, in cereal boxes) as a fun way to tell his wife, Nancy, how much he loved her.
At Col. Kennedy's death, his pastor shared this story of SHMILY and spoke about how the Kennedys used cooking, and especially baking, to express their love for family and friends and as a way to serve Christ in their community. He described it as creating a "SHMILY tree" with branches extending first to their family and then into the community.
"Papa" is Chef Cheryl's inspiration for her passion for baking, and as a tribute to him and to further the Kennedy's legacy of baking to share kindness and love, we bring you the SHMILY Tree Bakery Cafe. We offer you a warm and friendly place for fresh-baked breads and pastries, a good cup of coffee, a light and tasty breakfast or lunch, and an array of other goodies.

Donate Life / Alabama Organ Center
Col. Russell P. Kennedy, Jr. served 37 years in the Armed Forces and our family was given 21 extra years with him by the expression of love given through a heart donor's family in December of 1987. Both Col. Kennedy and his wife, Nancy, worked tirelessly to promote the cause of organ donation.  In their honor and memory, and for the future of so many, we encourage you to consider organ donation.  Please feel free to click on the link provided for more information.
